Beyonce has been accused of demanding an enormous fee for an appearance at a South African festival, modelled on the UK's own Glastonbury Festival.

South African newspaper the Beeld (via Zalebs.com) claims that the 'Listen' star refused to make an appearance unless she was paid $3.5million for her time. The new event, named the Dinokeng festival, was planned to take place in Cullinan, South Africa in 2014 and was being modelled on the set-up of Glastonbury, the UK's biggest summer festival. A proposal for the event was submitted last week to the Tshwane council.

"Beyoncé has a huge number of supporters and will attract a big audience," said a source for the festival, before promoter Justin van Wyk confirmed that Beyonce refused to perform unless she was paid $3.5million.

Beyonce headlined V Festival in the UK in 2013, but her fee is unlikely to have been anything close to £3.5m.

The Dinokeng festival was expected to cost organisers $45million to put on, but with estimated returns of $200m.
