Lostprophets fans have spoken of their sadness after the band announced their split, ahead of frontman Ian Watkins' trial on child sex offence charges.
Following the arrest of lead singer Ian Watkins last December for sexual offences against children, the five remaining members took posted a message on their Facebook page speaking of their 'heartache' surrounding the situation, before thanking fans for their supporting and saying farewell.
Despite the charges that face Watkins, fans took to Twitter to share their sadness and support for the remaining band members.
User @EmmaJaneo_o said: "I got asked if I was over Lostprophets yet "Yes, after just one day I have already forgotten about the band I have loved for years"."
"I hope the other 5 members of Lostprophets stick together & start a new band. They have been let down by one person & don't deserve it," were the thoughts of @Tony_Michael.
Other fans expressed dismay but also said they knew the news was inevitable. "I always knew it was going to happen but I'm so sad that Lostprophets have officially split up, worst feeling losing a favourite band," said @_is4belle.
Twitter user @OshJones_ agreed: "Yesterday was a sad day for Welsh music. I will forever be a gigantic @lostprophets fan..."
@heartbeatsong1 added: "Goodbye @lostprophets it was a good ride. I will miss you."
Watkins, 35, from Pontyprid, currently faces 24 charges that include the rape of a baby and the posession of 'extreme' animal pornography. denies all charges. He also faces allegations of two counts of rape of a child under one-year of age, one count of sexual assault of the same child and one count of conspiracy to rape another baby. The offences are alleged to have been committed between March 2007 and December 2012.
His full trial will begin on 25 November and is expected to last a month.
