Sky Ferreira has announced she is cancelling several shows supporting Vampire Weekend, citing an illness affecting her vocal cords as the reason for the hiatus.

Ferreira is currently opening for the New York band on the North American leg of their Modern Vampires of the City tour, and has not specified when she will be returning. The singer and model told fans on Facebook her doctor has prescribed "several days of vocal rest. Sadly, the timing will force me to miss this week's shows with Vampire Weekend. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused for the band and fans. I'm doing my best to re-join the tour as soon I'm 100%."

The 'You're Not the One' singer recently addressed the rumours surrounding her arrest for possession of ectasy two weeks ago in an interview with Billboard, saying: "I legally can't say much about what happened, but it's not what it all seems. I kind of got fucked with. And it's annoying because I wasn't charged with his heroin. It says it. The public records are out there. I wasn't charged with it."

Ferreira's full length debut, Night Time, My Time, is due to be released later this month.
