Sinead O'Connor has blaimed Simon Cowell and the X Factor for ruining music and exploiting female artists' sexuality.
The 'Nothing Compares to You' singer appeared on The Late Late Show this week (October 4th) to address the ongoing feud between her and US popstar Miley Cyrus. However she expressed that it is not Cyrus' records that are the problem but the likes of Simon Cowell encouraging young female artists to exploit themselves sexually.
"They're murderers of music! I stand and say it on behalf of every musician in the world and they will all agree with it. I don't give a shit if I hurt them ... All the sexualisation of young people, all the worship of bling and money and diamonds and 'Pop Idol' stuff, Simon Cowell - it all amounts to the murder of music."
Sinead O'Connor told viewers of The Late Late Show that she feels sorry for "the murder of rock & roll" thanks to Simon Cowell.
The past week has seen various war of words between O'Connor and Miley Cyrus after Sinead wrote an open letter to the 'Wrecking Ball' singer, which then ended up in Miley Cyrus retweeting old tweets regarding O'Connor's mental health issues, mocking her and comparing her to troubled actress, Amanda Bynes.
When asked in the interview about the feud Sinead O'Connor expressed that she feels Miley Cyrus has been sucked in by the music industry when she's too young to know what she's doing.
"Why I got involved in the issue of whether or not it's appropriate for a 20-year-old woman to be asked to lick sledgehammers for songs that has no lyrical reference to any such thing in them is that I would see it as an exploitation of somebody who's possibly too young to understand the dangers of allowing oneself to be exploited in that way."

"Miley... Really? Who the f**k is advising you? Because taking me on is even more f**kin' stupid than behaving like a prostitute and calling it feminism. You have posted today tweets of mine which are two years old, which were posted by me when I was unwell and seeking help so as to make them look like they are recent.
"In doing so you mock myself and Amanda Bynes for having suffered with mental health issues and for having sought help...
"I am staggered that any 20 yr old woman of the 21st century could behave in such a dangerous and irresponsible manner as to not only send the signal to young women that its ok to act like prostitutes but also to the signal that those who have suffered or do suffer mental health problems are to be mocked and have their opinions invalidated.
"Have you no sense of danger at all? or responsibility? Remove your tweets immediately or you will hear from my lawyers. I am certain you will be hearing from all manner of mental health advocacy groups also. It is not acceptable to mock any person for having suffered."
