Avicii has made UK chart history with his single 'Wake Me Up', after selling over 1million copies.

The track was already the fastest-selling single of 2013 so far, due to selling 267,000 copies on its first week of release back in July. Now, it has become the third single of the year to pass the million copy milestone - along with 'Get Lucky' by Daft Punk and 'Blurred Lines' by Robin Thicke.

'Wake Me Up' is only the 140th track in British chart history to sell over a million units, reports the Official Charts Company.

''Having the fastest-selling record of 2013 is obviously a huge deal to me," said Avicii back in July. "I never thought being on the Official Chart was an option for my music. Dance music has its own things; we have our own charts and lists, so just having a Number One is insane!''

'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol has also passed the million copy milestone, seven years after its initial release back in 2006, while 'Something About The Way You Look Tonight/Candle In The Wind 97' remains the biggest selling single of UK chart history, with sales of nearly 5 million copies in the last 16 years.
