Miley Cyrus has spoken of her respect for Sinead O'Connor's work as an artist and her disappointment at the public argument they had last week.

O'Connor recently penned an open letter to Miley Cyrus, discouraging her attention-seeking actions and warning her of being 'prostituted' by the music industry, who the Irish star claims cares nothing for the 'We Can't Stop' singer. O'Connor's advice then escalated into an online spat when Cyrus took to Twitter to lash out at the 'Nothing Compares To U' singer and likening her to troubled US starlet Amanda Bynes. She also shared a number of tweets O'Connor had posted on Twitter following a suicide attempt in 2012 during her battle with depression.
Sinead O'Connor then hit back at her for mocking mental illness and threatened her with legal action.
However, yesterday Cyrus appeared on the Today Show, where she gave insight into her opinion of O'Connor.
"I think she's an incredible artist," she told host Matt Lauer. "I think she's an awesome songwriter, and I was really inspired by her for my 'Wrecking Ball' video, which was what started the whole thing. I don't know how someone can start a fight with somebody who said, 'Hey, I really respect you. And I really love what you what you did.' 'You know what? You suck! I don't like you!'"
She added: "That was kind of crazy. But as I said, I'm a big fan of hers, so it doesn't really matter. It's all good."
Elsewhere in the interview, Cyrus revealed that she fully intended to cause controversy with her raunchy music videos, sexualised image and her 'twerking' performance at the VMAs, telling Lauer: "I'm an artist, so I'm hoping that I get a little attention or my record sales might be a little sketch."
