John Lennon's iconic star in the Hollywood Walk Of Fame has been 'defaced' by fans - leaving messages of love and appreciation.
The former Beatles' star lays on Vine Street in Los Angeles next to the Capitol Records building, where DJ and Fab Four expert Gillian Lomax led her Magical History Tour to the location to found that fans had 'besmirched' it.
"Morons did it," she told Hollywood Reporter. "Rather tacky. There was a group of them, judging from the different colored pens. I tried to rub it out, but to no avail."
Lomax then reported the incident to the relevant authorities - who took to cleaning up the path ASAP.

"We don't mess around," said Ana Martinez from the Walk Of Fame. "I think Capitol is looking into seeing if there's any video [of the crime.] They're registered state landmarks. Those are my babies! We've had people destroy stars, cracking or prying out parts of the stars, and they do go to jail and they have to pay back for the repairs."
Amongst the graffiti was a spotted toadstool, a smiley-face, and the words "I love you," and "Blackbird... Rain was here". See photos of the 'damge' here.
Meanwhile, John Lennon's childhood home in Liverpool is set to be auctioned off at the Cavern Club on 29 October, 2013.
