The twerking paid off: Miley Cyrus set for UK chart double

Miley Cyrus is set to top the UK single and album charts this week, as 'Wrecking Ball' and Bangerz have topped both midweek charts.

The controversial starlet topples Haim from the top of the album chart in the midweek countdown, and knocks One Republic from the No.1 spot on the singles chart. On the album chart she enters ahead of Chase & Status, whose new album Brand New Machine enters at No.2. Haim drop to No.3 with Days Are Gone, Arctic Monkeys are at No.4 with AM and Kings Of Leon are at No.5 with Mechanical Bull.

Former X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan enters at No.6 with her debut album, Join The Club and Panic! At The Disco are at No.8 with Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die while Korn make their return at No.11 with new album, The Paradigm Shift.

Prefab Sprout enter the midweek album chart at No.13 with Crimson/Red and Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip enter at No.14 with Repent Replesh Repeat. Further down the chart, new entries come from The Fratellis (No.17), The Feeling (No.18), Anna Calvi (No.19) and John Martyn's posthumous release, The Island Years (No.29).

On the singles chart, Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' single enters at No.1, ahead of Eminem's return at No.2 with new single, 'Berzerk'. Conor Maynard debuts at No.3 with 'R U Crazy' and The Saturdays score another hit single at No.4 with 'Disco Love'.

James Blunt returns to the singles chart with his new release 'Bonfire Heart' and John Newman scores a second solo hit with his new release, 'Cheating'. Justin Bieber adds to his hit tally with a new entry at No.8 with his latest release, 'Heartbreaker'.
