Lorde has performed her US chart topper, 'Royals', on Ellen Degeneres' US TV show. Watch the performance below.

The track, taken from her debut album Pure Heroine is spending its second week at the top of the US Billboard Chart, and Lorde is the youngest star since Tiffany, in 1987 with 'I Think We're Alone Now', to top the American chart. She is also the first female solo star to score a US No.1 single with her debut release since Carly Rae Jepsen hit the top spot with 'Call Me Maybe'.

As well as selling singles in their thousands, Lorde has caused controversy with her opinions on other music stars, but has stood by recent comments made about the likes of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.

In an interview with MTV, the 'Royals' singer said: "I think there's a funny culture in music that's only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn't 100-percent good, you're a 'hater,' even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique."
