Miley Cyrus has topped the UK single and album charts with new releases 'Wrecking Ball' and Bangerz, after months of self-promotion and NSFW behaviour.

The star has been inescapable in recent months since she brought twerking to the mainstream and shocked the world with her x-rated performance at the MTV VMAs in August of this year. The outrage has paid off however, as she hits the top spot on both UK sales charts.

"I truly appreciate the love I'm getting from the UK," Miley says in a statement to OfficialCharts.com. "Not only is this my second Number 1 single, but even more amazing is my album has also gone in at Number 1! I can't wait to be back in the UK next month."

Eminem enters at No.2 with new single 'Berzerk', One Republic slip to No.3 with 'Counting Stars' and Conor Maynard enters at No.4 with 'R U Crazy'. The Saturdays score a new hit at No.5 with their new release, 'Disco Love'.

Other new entries come from James Blunt (No.6), John Newman (No.9), Justin Bieber (No.14) and Ylvis (No.24).

On the album chart, Bangerz enters ahead of Chase + Status, whose new album enters at No.2. X Factor singer Lucy Spraggan enters at No.7 with Join The Club while Panic! At The Disco enter at No.10 with Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die.

Other new entries on the album chart come from Prefab Sprout (No.15), Korn (No.16), Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip (No.22), The Fratellis (No.26), Anna Calvi (No.32) and The Feeling (No.33).
