Legendary guitarist and producer Nile Rodgers has revealed that he is working on a new CHIC song with David Guetta.
This will be the first new CHIC material since 1992's 'Chic-ism'. Whilst you'd think this would be welcome news for Rodgers fans, not everyone is over the moon over his decision to work with the hugely successful house DJ and producer. SarahJRook took to Twitter to express her disappointment, exclaiming "Oh no Nile not the Guetta :(".
Despite Guetta's success, he is seen by some members of the industry as being responsible for a severe dumbing down of popular music. Last year fellow DJ Deadmou5 blasted his lack of imagination, saying “David Guetta has two iPods and a mixer and he just plays tracks – like, ‘Here’s one with Akon, check it out!’".
Despite the negative reaction to the news from some corners, Rodgers seems genuinely upbeat about this new collaboration. Revealing that he had been in the studio late into the night he challenged SarahJRook to "Hit me back in a few months when it comes out and give me your HONEST OPINION".

Rodgers has enjoyed something of a renaissance over the last 12 months. CHIC have been a huge draw at festivals all over Europe this summer and he came to the attention of a new generation by playing on the ubiquitous 'Get Lucky' with Daft Punk. Whatever the reaction of Sarah and others when the new material is released, this is sure to bring CHIC and Rodgers even more attention in what has already been a stellar year for the disco giants.
