Sir. Paul McCartney has shrugged off any suggestion that Miley Cyrus behaviour at the MTV Video Music Awards was shocking, saying her performance with Robin Thicke was 'not explicit at all'.
Talking to Sky News about his new album, Sir Paul put his hands up to say that there was nothing wrong with Cyrus' bump and grind moves. The singer even went so far as to dispel criticisms of Miley's content being unsuitable for children, saying that he was happy for his 10-year-old daughter to watch the controversial dance moves.
He stated: 'I watched it as an experiment to check, but you look at it and you say 'what's everyone shouting about?'. I think it was only mildly shocking ... it wasn't explicit at all.

Also asked about the ever controversial comparisons between boyband One Direction and the Beatles, McCartney also jumped to their defence. Saying: "I always think it's unfortunate for a band to be called the new Beatles because it can be the kiss of death. People expect you to live up to what we did, and we did what we did in a particular period in time, which is very different from now."
Going on to state: "I like One Direction. They're young, beautiful boys and that's the attraction. But they can sing and they make good records, so that's what I can see in common - and that the girls love them.'
Sir. Paul McCartney's album New,his sixteenth offering, is out today (14th October).
