Following his successful gig in London this week, comedian Ricky Gervais is reporedly planning further live shows, and possibly even a full album, as David Brent - with help from musical collaborator Andy Burrows, the former drummer in Razorlight.
Gervais performed last night as Brent at London's Bloomsbury theatre, with tickets for the show having sold out in 60 seconds - disappointing thousands of fans hoping to see the star live on stage. However, now it is reported that the comedy actor and fledgling musician could have his sights set on much bigger stage - and a new project with Andy Burrows, who performed with Gervais in his backing band last night in London.
"Ricky has written nearly all the material himself but he wanted a helping hand with some specific tracks," says a source to The Mirror newspaper. "He and Andy first met in 2008 on the Jonathan Ross Show and they have stayed in touch ever since.
"Although Ricky’s performances are all slightly cringe-worthy, they are extremely tongue-in-cheek and actually, lyrically, very clever," the source adds. "Andy was keen to get involved in the new album as soon as the idea was put to him.

Following the huge interest in David Brent the popstar, it has also been claimed that a full-length David Brent album could be in the pipeline.
"There has been interest from a major record label and an album will hit shelves early next year, with Andy credited as the major songwriter," the source continues. "They are also currently in talks for a live arena tour, taking in venues of varying sizes. Ricky has already been approached about a special one-off gig at Wembley."
