Iconic rockers Metallica have revealed their hopes to headline a future Glastonbury Festival, saying that the Westcountry event is one that has always eluded them.
Bands such as Fleetwood Mac and Depeche Mode are among the frontrunners for next year's Worthy Farm event, but drummer Lars Ulrich has revealed that if Michael Eavis ever wants Metallica on the line-up, all he needs to do is make the call.
"Every year there's probably less chance of us doing it than the previous year, but it just looks like it would be a fun night out," says Ulrich in an interview with MTV. "We've been fortunate enough to play every other festival on this planet numerous times, so Glastonbury is the only one that's eluding us."
"There's such a vibe and it's maybe the most quintessentially English festival. Everybody who goes there loves it and obviously Michael doesn't need our help."
"I completely appreciate and respect that – but if he ever wants to get hold of us we're in the Yellow Pages and ready to go!"

Glastonbury organisers are 'close' to securing two big headliners for the 2014 event, according to a recent interview Emily Eavis gave the NME.
"We are away in Cornwall this week and I've just been talking to an agent on the phone on the beach in the rain about one of our headliners," Eavis told the magazine. "We're definitely getting close to securing two and there are a few options for the third. It's annoying really as there are lots of great bands touring next year and we'd love to have them all.
"But rest assured, it's going to be one hell of a show - maybe even the best yet!"
