Eighties icon Neneh Cherry has announced the release of a brand new solo album, produced by Kieron Hebdon, AKA Four Tet.
The 'Buffalo Stance' singer will release the new album in early 2014 and is her first solo album in more than 16 years. The release will also include a guest appearance by Swedish pop superstar Robyn.
Speaking of the album, Cherry claims she achieved a 'rawness' on the album, and says she found the recording process liberating.
"It was a liberating experience, not endlessly trying to fiddle with the music, re-recording hundreds of times," she says. "These days it's easy to create any effect or sound on a computer; it is much harder to get the rawness I think we've achieved."
Neneh Cherry burst onto the pop scene in 1988 with debut album, Raw Like Sushi, following up with Homebrew in 1992 and Man in 1996. She collaborated with Cirkus on Laylow in 2006 and Medicine in 2009. She released The Cherry Thing, with The Thing, in 2012.
