Sky Ferreira has opened up about the controversy surrounding recently unveiled cover art for her upcoming debut album Night Time, My Time - in which she appears topless.
The 'You're Not the One' singer told Stereogum that whilst critics are accusing her of baring all for maximum sales, the image itself, which portrays Ferreira moodily posing in a shower stall, is more likely to harm sales as supermarkets won't stock it.
"The most ridiculous thing I hear right now is, 'Oh she got topless for record sales'," said Sky. "It’s like, are you kidding me? I’d sell way more if I just put a picture of my face. That's the fact. I'd sell more copies of me just looking cute."
She added: "That's what sells more. That's what sells at Walmart. Not someone in a bathtub looking like they’re about to kill someone. Topless."

The star also touched on her recent drugs arrest again, re-enforcing the claims she previously made to Billboard about not having a drug problem and not wishing to glamourize the issue. She also spoke candidly about how the incident has affected her career. "Everything I do now is reflected against this arrest that happened. It's somehow now a part of everything I do," she said.
Ferreira also recently cancelled a string of tour dates with Vampire Weekend, citing a vocal chord injury as the reason for the withdrawal.
Ferreira's debut album, Night Time, My Time, is scheduled for release on 29 October, 2013.
