Morrissey has revealed in his autobiography that he contemplated having children after the US September 11th terror attacks that shook the world in 2001.

The outspoken singer writes that he discussed potentially fathering children with friend Tina Dehghani, following on from the attacks on the World Trade Center's Twin Towers, which left 3,000 people dead and shook the world.

Morrissey leaves a degree of mystery surrounding the nature of his relationship with Dehghani, simply describing it as an 'uncluttered commitment'.

He continued: "Tina and I discuss the unthinkable act of producing a mewling miniature monster. Had I ever previously known such a thought?"

The former Smiths frontman, 54, also describes the profound effect 9/11 had on him. Describing the moment he watched the attack unfold on his TV in Los Angeles, he says: "With a feeling of utter impotence I spend the entire day watching the television news reports of the Twin Towers horror, wondering whether any meaning could be left in the world. As the second plane glides into the tower I suddenly have no words to voice the hurt inside me..."

"(It is) the most appalling sight imaginable. This poor and pathetic human race... The scene is untranslatable," he continues.

The much-anticipated 'Autobiography' was released today, and has already made headlines due to its explosive content, which provides a fascinating insight into Morrissey's personal and professional life.
