A planned Rihanna concert in Tel Aviv next week has prompted a Palestinian political movement to call on fans to boycott the show.
The BDS Movement (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) is a global compaign which uses political and economical pressure to end the Israeli occupation of Arab land and full equality for Arab-Palestinian residents of Israel.
BDS have successfully stopped the Pixies, Jon Bon Jovi and Elvis Costello from performing in Israel with viral online campaigns, Facebook messages, tweets and threats of poor ticket sales in other places around the world.
However, previous efforts to prevent artists such as Alicia Keys, Madonna, Lady Gaga performing in Israel by BDS have failed, with some publicly condemning the organisation for bringing politics into their career as an entertainer.
Rihanna's Diamonds tour is still set to roll into Tel Aviv come Tuesday despite the organisation's protests. It is claimed that she is being 'prepped' for the media backlash.
The singer will perform to 50,000 fans - 17,000 less than her record breaking concert in Johannesburg last week, which saw attendees criticising the R&B singer's performance, claiming she was miming.
