The Sun have caused outrage after their Showbiz Twitter account made an inappropriate joke involving Madeleine McCann and X Factor contestant Tamera Foster.
During last night's (Saturday 19 October) airing of the X Factor, the paper's showbiz Twitter made a comment on contestant Tamera Foster after her incredible performance on the show. Tamera is currently under investigation after reportedly stealing make-up from a Boots store, however The Sun took things a little too far with the following Tweet...
The message has since been removed from the social media account and they have posted an apology stating: "We would like to say sorry for a tweet that was sent out earlier. It was an inappropriate attempt to make a joke, as we got it wrong."
Earlier this month, 16-year-old Tamera Foster is currently the bookies' favourite to win this year's X Factor, after the full 12 finalists were revealed this week on the ITV talent show.
Foster is mentored by Nicole Scherzinger in this year's contest. The former Pussycat Dolls star won in 2012 with James Arthur, and is currently leading bookmakers predictions for this year's show. Second favourite is youngster Nicholas McDonald, (mentored by Louis Walsh), and third and fourth favourites are Hannah Barrett and Abi Alton - both of whom are mentored by Scherzinger.
