Keane have announced that they are to split in order to focus on personal projects.
After 16 years playing together as a group, the Sussex indie-rock band have decided to part ways after the release of their greatest hits album, The Very Best of Keane in November.
According to The Sun, frontman Tom Chaplin is said to be focussing on his solo career, while the band's main songwriter Tim Rice-Oxley, who has won an Ivor Novello Award for his work, is planning on collaborating with various popstars after having already worked with Kylie Minogue and Gwen Stefani.
A spokesman for the band stated: "Keane are taking a break after the Best Of to pursue their own projects."
