Jake Bugg has dismissed his Mercury Music Prize nomination, claiming that the awards don't really mean much to him.
Bugg, who's debut self-titled album is one of this year's Mercury Prize nominations, has stated in a recent interview with the Coventry Telegraph that he's not all that fussed because he doesn't make music to win awards.
The young singer admitted in the interview, "It's great to be nominated, but the Mercury's don't mean a whole lot to me - that's not why I make music, to get awards. I make albums for people to listen to. I started writing songs in the hope they could mean something, could help someone, could inspire someone, could make someone's day. That's the best thing in the world for me."

Jake Bugg is currently 33/1 in the bookies odds to win the Mercury Music Prize 2013, with Disclosure being the favourites to take home the prize. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony on 30 October, 2013.
