More about:

Country and Western superstar Dolly Parton is being heavily rumoured to perform at Glastonbury 2014, after her newly revealed UK tour dates have a conspicuous gap on the day of next year's event...

Parton will tour the UK and Europe in June and July 2013 - performing in Cardiff on 24 June 2014, the day before Glastonbury. Her next scheduled date is at London's O2 Arena on 27 June. Glastonbury 2014 starts on 25 June 2014.

While it's not quite in the same league as having Rolling Stones or Arctic Monkeys confirmed as headliners for this year's Glastonbury, Parton would, we reckon, make an excellent act to perform at next year's Glastonbury. It's easy to dismiss Parton as a cheesy pop novelty, her music more suited to hen nights, but if tracks such as '9 To 5' are good enough for a 2 Many DJs remix treatment, then it's good enough for us. Furthermore, Parton's country classics such as 'She Never Met A Man (She Didn't Like)' or 'D.I.V.O.R.C.E' are understated triumphs which would go down brilliantly in a Somerset field.
