MIA has revealed she was once planning to audition for X Factor in a burqa, hoping to expose the show's attempts to seem politically correct.
In her recent interview with The Guardian, MIA spoke out about the show, and while not openly criticising the TV talent show, said she once considered attempting to sabotage the show with an audition.
"I was thinking of wearing a burqa and auditioning," she told the broadsheet, then discussing when she would be eliminated from the divisive show. "First round? No, second round. They'd give me a second go, because I'd be in a burqa and they'd be politically correct.
"Then I would get kicked off," she adds. "I'm not really a singer, I don't know what I am."

MIA releases new album Matangi on 5 November 2013, and recently revealed how her new track 'Sexodus' was originally offered to Madonna for her MDNA album - but was rejected from the album.
She also told The Guardian: "I actually played that song to Madonna when I wrote it and said, 'Oh you can have this.' She gave it back to me."
MIA previously used the traditional Islamic dress to make a statement when she wore a burqa to 2010 LA event, Scream 2010.
