Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis, was full of praise for Liam Gallagher during the Q Awards yesterday (21 October, 2013) - but also admitted he was on the scotch while doing so.
Philippakis believes that there needs to be more troublemakers like Liam Gallagher, as well as wishing that his peers started to party more, and actually enjoy being in a band.
At the Q Awards, the singer said: "I like Liam, I met him before and he was charmingly offensive and I like people like him. You look at the 90s and British guitar bands were mouthy. Now it's pre-prescribed dullness," he told Bangshowbiz. "It needs to change... I've already had a scotch so I'm on my way. You can always rely on me to try and stir things up but rock 'n' roll is so square these days. Everyone's polite and groomed and media trained and they're worried about their careers. That's the problem."
Yannis' respect for Liam aside, he still believes that the former Oasis member deserves a punch for his previous idiotic behaviour.
At the Grosvenor House Hotel, where the ceremony was held, the 27-year-old was asked if he was looking to kick off with Liam's ultimate rival Robbie Williams, he responded: "I'd rather kick off with Liam than Robbie. What's Robbie ever done? Liam's the one that needs a hiding."
Foals beat the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Mumford & Sons, Muse and The Stone Roses - to win the Best Live Act at the awards ceremony.
