Morrissey's long awaited, hugely discussed Autobiography has topped the UK book charts, selling 34,919 copies in its first week.

The former Smiths' frontman's highly anticipated memoirs (which feature plenty of choice controversial quotes that have been steadily circulating their way around the internet this week) are now sitting atop the bestsellers' list, having had the biggest first week sales for a memoir since 2011.

'Autobiography' has also further smashed records by having the biggest first week sales for a book penned by a musician, beating the likes of offerings from Keith Richards and Slash.

Furthermore, Moz's memoirs toppled the return of nobody's favourite chain-smoking singleton Bridget Jones. The third instalment of the series, Mad About the Boy, fell to No.2.

In 'Autobiography', the 54-year-old musician offers a number of bizzarre, fascinating, and often worrying thoughts on subjects such as his schooldays, his days in The Smiths, a brief moment when he considered having children, and tramps.
