Gypie Mayo, former guitarist for Dr Feelgood and the Yardbirds, has died at the age of 62 it was announced today.
Mayo's career began in 1969 with his first band White Mule. He then replaced Wilko Johnson in blues rock band Dr Feelgood in 1977, penning their UK top 10 hit 'Milk and Alcohol' and featuring on six of their albums.

He then joined the reformed Yardbirds in 1996 until 2004, playing guitar on their 2003 album Birdland. Since then, he has reportedly played in a number of local bands in Bath as well as teaching the guitar.
"Gypie was a tremendously talented and innovative guitarist who not only played in Df between 1977 and 1981 but also co-wrote some of our best known songs including Milk and Alcohol," Dr Feelgood drummer Kevin Morris told the Bath Chronicle.
