Every toe-curling cliche on Katy Perry's new album Prism has been chronicles in detail, in a new breakdown of the US star's latest release.
The lead up to the release of Prism has certainly been a successful one for Perry with debut single 'Roar' shooting straight to No.1 across the globe, the eighth chart topper of her career. As a result the new album is predicted to sell over 300,000 copies during its first week on sale. This follows on from Katy's rebranding as an adult artist, where she has grown from dressing like a strange candy womanchild fairy to wearing animal themed bikinis and swinging around the jungle.
In a statement of defiance against the despicably marketable Perry, Gawker.com have put together an article in which they list all of the clichés that Perry spouts during Prism's running time, oh and they also say the album is dreadful. To be honest it's of no surprise that an artist who plays it so safe would spout clichés, however 226 has to be a new world record.
So you might want to know that Katy can "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee", in order to climb the "highest peak" where she realises that "one man's trash is another man's treasure". But "choose your battles then you win the war" she says before "laying on the bathroom floor" where "angels cry" with a "one-way ticket" to where "the truth will set you free". If that wasn't enough for you have a gander at the jaw dropping list here.
Obviously clichés are an improtant facet of the pop genre as most people who listen to music like Perry's don't particularly want to be challenged to much. But 226, really?
