Shaun Ryder has revealed that there is to be another Happy Mondays album, in news sure to thrill fans of the band.
Talking to Gigwise, he said that there were plans to release new material but "not in the immediate future." Ryder revealed that before work could start in earnest, he had to finish his own project, revealing "I've got a solo album coming out first".
It has been 25 years since classic album Bummed, and the legendary frontman revealed that he was always confident the band would make it to the landmark, claiming "In my naivety I did expect the band would be going strong after 25 years".
It's not always been plain sailing for the band, however, with long periods apart for various members' health and sanity. There have also been plenty of other projects during this time, Ryder's Black Grape being the most notable example.
Another reason for the delay of the new Happy Mondays material could be Ryder's television work, with the singer producing an intriguing new documentary on the existence of UFOs for the History Channel. Eyes to the skies all.
