PBS animated a portion of Kurt Cobain's 1993 interview with journalist Jon Savage, as part of their Blank on Blank series. Watch it below.

A decade later, we are given another dimension to the interview - that was originally run in The Observer - as an animated Cobain discusses issues from family, his sexuality, and even begins to discuss his happiness and optimism after marrying and having a child with Courtney Love.

Watch the animated interview, below:

Cobain even touches upon questions he had regarding his heritage, explaining how he finally discovered that his surname originated from Cork, Ireland. He expressed that when Nirvana toured, he almost had a 'spiritual' experience, describing how he felt at one - the polar opposite of his 'alienation' he felt during school, and described, at the start of the video.

He even expressed his disgust at bands such as Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin, who were once hightly esteemed in his eyes, as he found their lyrics both mysogynistic and crude. He even delved in to his stomach and back pains, due to his enthusiasm to music.

The extract of the interview finishes with Cobain talking in some length regarding the harmony he had found once he had wed Courtney Love and had his child - all in all interesting, but haunting, interview.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's first album, In Utero, which gave the group the opportunity to release new variations with some rare and exclusive additions. Bassist Kris Novoselic, told Rolling Stone: "There is a lot of baggage that comes with it... it brings back a lot of memories - good memories, painful memories. But it's good music - good rock music."
