Arctic Monkeys' figurehead Alex Turner has explained why he doesn't have a Twitter account - saying simply that it is 'too much pressure'.
In a recent interview with the Observer, published yesterday (October 27), the frontman explained how his cautious nature prevents him from opening up an account. Talking about his lyrics Turner lets slip that he is a little bit of a perfectionist while it is noted that he is very mindful of the words that he says, even going so far as to correct himself half way through a sentence.
Acknowledging this part of his nature, Turner said: "It's why I don't have Twitter. Too much pressure."
The only member of the Arctic Monkeys to officially own an account is Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. Currently he holds 63,000 followers, stacked up against the Arctic Monkeys band account that owns around 637,000.

As for the rest of the interview, guitarist Jamie Cook talks of what it was like to be asked by Danny Boyle to star in the Olympic opening ceremony. "That was surreal," he says. "I still haven't watched any of it. My dad bought me the box set and it's still in its package on the shelf at home. It was just crazy. There were doves cycling!... It was just that mad – the whole thing. I kind of didn't register till days later."
Meanwhile the Arctic Monkeys continue their huge headline tour of the UK, with the following dates left to take place:
Liverpool Echo Arena (28)
Cardiff Motorpoint Arena (29)
Birmingham LG Arena (31)
Glasgow Hydro Arena (November 1)
Sheffield Motorpoint Arena (2)
