Biffy Clyro: 'We've learned a lot from Muse and Queens Of The Stone Age'

Scot rockers discuss influence of touring with Matt Bellamy & Josh Homme

Scottish rock heroes Biffy Clyro have opened up about the lessons they've learned from touring with the likes of Muse and Queens Of The Stone Age.

Speaking to Gigwise backstage at their Samsung Live gig in Guildford, drummer Ben Johnston spoke of what they had learned from both bands when constructing set lists for their shows.

"Great band to tour with, Muse you know," he said, "they're consummate proffessionals and they always put on a flawless show everytime. We've toured with other bands who are from the other sides of the spectrum where they change their set-list every night and it's all a little bit off the cuff. I mean like Queens of the Stone Age are more that sort of band."

Talking of the lessons learned from the two acts, Ben added that he wanted Biffy to find themselves in the middle of improvised rock of QOTSA and retina-searing stadium shows of Matt Bellamy and co. "I guess we land somewhere of that," he said, "we don't want to be too slick, we don't want to be too rough. So you pick things up from these legends and we're very grateful to Muse for taking us on the road so many times."

Meanwhile Biffy continue their quest for world domination, last week winning Best Album at the Q Awards for Opposites.
