The Killers have hit out at the current state of music in America stating that the country is 'musically retarded'.
The 'Runaways' band who first found mainstream fame in the UK said that they were glad things happened that way round as they believe that Ameica is musically challenged.
In an interview with The Sun, drummer Ronnie Vernucci said: ''Breaking in the UK first was great because America is retarded musically. It's upside down. There's so much great music that doesn't get the attention. There's a lot of bullshit on US radio.''
Chipping in, singer Brandon Flowers added: ''I start to wonder, what do adults listen to? Do they listen to what's being played on the radio? 'You should listen to something that's for you -- not about giving your virginity to your boyfriend on Saturday night. It is retarded. 'Every song is that song. And if 40-year-olds are listening to that rubbish, they're going to raise kids on it. It's not even music.''
The band are currently gearing up for the release of their greatest hits record a sign usually that a band might be winding down. "We'll have a little break then I'll make another solo album, but it's not the end for us,'' said Brandon addressing the future of the band.
''People in their 30s or 40s are still really fruitful," added drummer Ronnie, "and I look to those people for inspiration. There'll be much more music from The Killers. This first ten years has just been the start for us.''
Meanwhile, The Killers willb be returning to the UK for a show at London's Hammersmith Apollo on Wednesday 6 November. For more information visit Gigwise gig tickets.
