The 1975 frontman Matt Healy has hit out at former Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell - calling him a 'wanker'. He also opened up about his famous mother, Denise Welch from Loose Women.

In a candid new interview with The Guardian, the 'Sex' singer was asked if he was worried that fame would go to bands' heads.

"No, I don't," he replied. "We're not worried about becoming a bunch of wankers because the people who become wankers were always gonna become wankers. Johnny Borrell is a wanker because he's a wanker, not because Razorlight got massive."

When asked about his famous parents, Denise Welch of Coronation Street and Loose Women fame and Auf Wiedersehen Pet's Tim Healy, Matt responded: "Listen, my parents' connections couldn't have got me anywhere."

He continued: "In the early years of growing up, you're living in a creative environment. But you've got to remember, my parents weren't embraced by the mainstream till I was 17 – Loose Women and all that. I was already in a punk band. So when you grow up in that environment, there's a weird thing of not wanting to be like your parents, because you're an individual. But also being brought up in an environment where expressing yourself is endorsed. It's all right. Creativity is a facility of the human brain, but if you're brought up in an environment where it's OK to express yourself then that's going to translate into the type of person you are."

The band will return to the UK for a full tour in the new year. Full dates are below. They will be supported by The Neighbourhood, who The 1975 supported in America earlier this year.
