Katy Perry has overtaken former record holder Justin Bieber to become the most popular user on Twitter, boasting a massive 46.5 million followers.
The 'Roar' singer, who just released third album Prism, has just managed to edge past Justin Bieber, 19, who has a hair less than Perry with 46.9 million followers. He previously held the title for nine months.

Bieber had previously overtaken Lady Gaga to become the most followed account on Twitter. Gaga now sits behind Bieber, with 40.4 million users following her on the social networking site. However, she's still the most liked artist on Facebook, with a massive 60.35 fans following her page.
Musicians account for four of the five most followed accounts on Twitter, with US President Barack Obama being the only account in the top five who is not an artist.
Perry recently offered up some social media tips in honour of her new title to USA Today, claiming she has "learned to ride social media". Amongst her advice? "Less is more", "don't be self indulgent" and "don't use it to self-promote. That's boring." We're sure there are more than a few of her peers who could stand to take that advice.
