The inaugural Youtube Music Awards took place last night (3 November 2013) - seeing performances from the likes of Arcade Fire and Lady Gaga while Eminem and Taylor Swift took home awards. Watch the full ceremony below.
Hosted by the brilliant Jason Schwartzman and awesome Reggie Watts, the ceremony was 'unscripted' and kind-of chaotic - making a welcome change from the usual super-shiny, over-sanitised glitzy awards shows that we've become accustomed to, but also occasionally falling flat on its arse/face.
While the winners largely reflected some sort of America-cenric Youtube popularity contest, the performances themselves were pretty good. Highlights included 'An Abridged History Of Music On YouTube', Schwartzman and Watts occasionally jamming for some reason, Arcade Fire's Win Butler 'pulling a Kanye' during Taylor Swift's award and Eminem making up for his shoddy miming on SNL with an absolutely belting performance.
Let's hope the BRIT Awards learn from this and inject a little more fun when they return.
