Asian group Girls Generation came under heavy, racist criticism from fans of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga after they won the Video Of The Year award at the first ever Youtube awards ceremony.
The South Korean pop group are extremely popular across the globe, having amassed over 74 million views for their video 'I Got A Boy' and 400,000 likes. In the end it pipped international offerrings from the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus in order to win one of the most coveted awards at the show.
The group's win angered fans of the above, with some seriously offensive messages being sent to the group by fans of Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, among others.
After the announcement the following tweets began to pop up online:

Meanwhile the tweets and the use of the phrase "Ching Chong" continues to spiral out of control online with certain members of Twitter. The main reason for the uproar is that most of the audience clearly haven't heard of Girls Generation despite their popularity and numerous appearances on American and Australian TV including the late show with David Letterman.
