Following on from Rick Ross' lacklustre remix Lorde's chart topping 'Royals' single in October of this year, Raekwon of Wut-Tang Clan fame is the latest to jump on the track. Listen below.
The remix sees the rapper add a new lyrics to the song during an initial verse that acts as a juxtaposition to the songs subject matter. The song is expressly about the lavish lifestyles of the pop and rap elite, as previously discussed by Lorde in a series of interviews, which is in direct contrast to Raekwon's verse about gangsters in watches and lexus'.
In an interview with the Guardian Lorde stated: "Writing 'Royals' was sort of like: 'Why the fuck isn't anyone talking about this?'" the 16-year-old is quoted as saying.
"I feel like I'm late to the party saying it, but actually I'm not, there's nothing here, how is there nothing here? And so all these people started telling me that what I'm saying is, like, profound. Are you serious? No, it's not. It's hugely concerning for me."
