James Arthur has criticised his own debut album, revealing that the number of producers he worked with on the record had a negative impact on his creativity.
Speaking to Digital Spy at his album signing on Oxford Street, the X Factor winner and mortal enemy of Matt Cardle aired his frustration related to the lack of freedom he felt whilst writing.
"There are a lot of people that it's mandatory to work with," he said, "I worked with several producers in America and several here and for my next record I certainly won't be doing that. It's not condusive to being creative - it takes a couple of days to build up a rapport with a producer and then after that, you're onto the next one."
Elaborating, he stated: "That fucks up your creativity, so that's the only hindrance I've had on this record. I knew there was going to be a lot of fathers on this record but it's my debut. If I could, I'd have put out three albums this year. I've got that much material. But that's thanks to the success of 'Impossible', I haven't had to rush my album and I feel like we've got a better album than we would have done without that."
James Arthur's cover of Shontelle's 'Impossible' was sadly one of the fastest selling singles of 2012, setting extremely high expectations for the X Factor winner's debut album.
