Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump have spoken out about Miley Cyrus's recent behaviour, and the music world's attitude towards women in general.
Talking to The Metro, Wentz voiced his concern over the industry's treatment of the 'Wrecking Ball Star'.
"You want to protect a girl's sexuality for as long as you can and let them develop on their own", he said. "There is a double-standard for women in music".
It's clear that Wentz isn't anti-Cyrus per se, as in August he tweeted: "I back Miley Cyrus - Awesome to see someone be herself and fearless in the age of ppl faking it!"
Former Fall Out Boy member Patrick Stump also claims to be worried about the way females are portrayed in modern music, saying: "Women have to put themselves out there so much more. My mom's a feminist and I have discomfort with things I see female artists asked to do."
So Fall Out Boy have come over as champions of the feminist cause. In a world where Rick Ross and Robin Thicke are allowed to get away with outrageous misogyny almost unchallenged, it's certainly a refreshing change of pace.
