Alan McGee has hailed The Libertines as 'the hardest group he's ever had to manage', describing the band as 'out of control'.
This is a big claim if your bear in mind that the man has worked with Oasis, Jesus and Mary Chain and Primal Scream. All three of those bands certainly had their moments, but the label boss says that none of them come close to the levels of insanity that The Libertines hit.
Talking of the chaos ahead of the release of his autobiography Creation Stories, he told The Guardian: "I couldn't control it. Everything else, I've been able to control the scenarios. The Libertines were out of control"

McGee had only been the manager of the band for one day when they made an ill-fated trip to Wales to record. It was a complete disaster from the off, and ended poorly in a specifically gruesome was for Carl Barat when he smashed his head against a sink. McGee exaplains: "I was instated as the Libertines' manager and by the Monday or Tuesday we were in Wales, hence that whole bit of madness in the book. That was totally true, his eye was hanging out of his head."
As well as doing himself no favours, Barat did a fair bit of damage to the fittings in the house, as McGhee reveals: "There was so much blood it was unbelievable. He managed to do £400-worth of damage to a big marble sink."
Last year Barat briefly joined London band Eyes On Film. One can only imagine it didn't last because of the constant horrible flashbacks from his time in Wales.
