Lou Reed's final interview has emerged online. On 21 September, 2013 he talked to filmmaker Farida Khelfa during a photoshoot.

Reed was renowned for being a challenging interviewee, reducing more than one journalist to tears. However, he either mellowed in his old age or he has holds Khelfa in very high regard as he is very open and eloquent.

As you'd expect, most of the interview centres around music and specifically the profound effect that sound had on him. On music, he talks of the influence of bass on music throughout the ages, saying "Hip hop has thunderous bass and so does Beethoven. If you don't have the bass it's like being amputated ". Watch the interview below.

Talking at length on sound, he talks about his relationship with sound. He says "I am very emotionally affected by sound" and that when he heard the remastered versions of his work recently he wept.

Reconciling the two subjects of sound and music, he concludes "ordered sound is music and music is my life"
