Classic rockstars AC/DC have been awarded 3/1 odds to achieve a Christmas No.1 with their classic hit 'Highway to Hell'.
The band have had their odds upgraded after a Facebook campaign to get them to the coveted yuletide top spot amassed over 100,000 likes in four days. Released in 1979 from the album of the same name, it is the next in a long line of "alternative" Christmas No.1's that have become part of the establishment at Christmas.
In past years we have seen the likes of Rage Against the Machine reach the chart pinnacle ahead of X Factor winners and their annual Christmas release.

The main competition in the race for Christmas glory is the X Factor, which has thrown its hat back into the arena after two years out of the competition. Bookies at Paddy Power have awarded the tired reality TV show 8/11 to win.
Other contestants include Lily Allen for her cover of Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know', Jack Topping with 'Tomorrow' from musical Annie, Richard and Adam 'I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In (On Christmas Day) and Susan Boyle and Elvis' 'O Come, All Ye Faithful'.
