Electronic artist James Lavelle and co-founder of Unkle has been announced as the curator for the 2014 Meltdown Festival.
Next year's festival will be a triple celebration that will culminate in a very special edition of the cultural celebration. It will mark the 21st anniversary of the festival as well as Lavelle's Mo'Wax label and will also be the producer's 40th birthday.
"I want to bring together my influences from the past and the present, and my work as an artist in contemporary society," said Lavelle of his upcoming involvement with the event, "as well as transform the space in a way that's never been done before, both artistically and musically. In curating Meltdown I have a responsibility to inspire the next generation of young artists in the same way that I was inspired as a teenager. Together we will push boundaries, shoot for the moon and create something that people will never forget."
Lavelle joins the likes of David Bowie, Yoko Ono, Massive Attack, Patti Smith, Jarvis Cocker and Morrissey who have all curated in the past. The festival has over the years featured huge pinnacles in music, playing host to John lennon's first live show, Jeff Buckley's final UK show and last year Peaches performing Yoko Ono's Cut Piece.
