Jake Bugg has revealed he is glad he didn't win last month's Mercury Music Prize, because he was 'too drunk' at the ceremony to have made a decent speech.
The Nottingham 'Two Fingers' star was nominated alongside the likes of Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie and Disclosure for the coveted award for his self-titled debut album. However, Bugg joked that he's quite relieved that James Blake took home the prize and not him.
"I was quite pleased that I didn't win the Mercury because I was quite drunk and I didn't want to go on that stage and make a speech, to be honest," Bugg said in an interview with the BBC.
When asked about winner James Blake, Bugg replied: "I didn't particularly enjoy his performance at the Mercury Awards, but I could see that he's talented."
