Lily Allen has revealed her concerns over her recent comeback single 'Hard Out Here' - saying she experienced sleepness nights in anticipation of backlash over her return to pop music.

Allen dropped the controversial video for 'Hard Out Here' earlier this week - taking a swipe at the misogyny and double standards of the music industry, targeting Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus in particular. However, the video has received complaints of racism.

Now in her first interview since her return to music, Allen told West End that she feared for the worst.

"It’s been an exciting 24 hours, that’s for sure," she said. "I’m a bit of a catastrophiser. I haven’t really slept much in the last couple of weeks, thinking about the negative feedback I was going to get."

Speaking about sexism in pop, Allen said: "I think objectification of women is fine if I feel that there is a sense of ownership from the woman. If it comes from somewhere else and it feels like the woman is being coerced or forced into something then it’s gross."

Despite the furore, Allen said that following the video's release, she was "genuinely quite moved" that "people were so into it".

Earlier this week, Allen released a lengthy statement hitting back at complaints against her video. Read it in full here
