The long wait for new Bruce Springsteen material may be over as it was reported over the weekend that a new track may be released on Tuesday (19 November).
The information leaked by Danish music magazine WIMP, reads that Springsteen will put out a new song entitled 'High Hopes'. The magazine also placed the news alongside artwork that fits in with his most recent releases.
The track is not strictly new however as it was originally released by Scott McConnell's band The Havalinas back in 1990 and Springsteen subsequently covered the track for his Blood Brothers EP released in 1996. However he has been reworking lesser known songs within his vast catalogue in recent years, as demonstrated by Wrecking Ball and 'The Land of Hope and Dreams' track which was released just last year.
Whilst the emergence of new material may come as a surprise to most people, Springsteen has frequently been hinting at the possibility, telling Rolling Stone in June that the band had been frequenting a recording studio in Sydney.
"We’ve never had a recording session during a tour in our lives," he said, “We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down. So that was very exciting. And being with Tommy was exciting. The band – Steven, Nils, all those guys – continues to be a source of inspiration for me.”
