Lady Gaga has taken to Twitter to break her silence over the largely negative reaction to her new album ARTPOP.
Based on past events, most would have expected her to come out with a defiant statement of her indifference to public opinion and asserion of her brilliance. However the star broke pop bitch character and seemed genuinely hurt by the criticism levelled at her, claiming that "I will never understand the overflow of hate sent my way".
Gaga claims that she puts her heart and soul into her music and performances, so doesn't understand why there are those who relentlessly put her down on Twitter and other such forums. Billboard are targeted for encouraging people to "point and laugh" at entertainers rather than report on the music itself.
I put so much love into my music, into my shows, I make it all for you. I'll never understand the overflow of hate sent my way.

Or maybe thats what entertainment is now. It's more fun to point & laugh than appreciate the artist. I'll keep rehearsing my steps #showbiz

ARTPOP has failed to reach the commercial success of its predecessors, although it did still reach No.1 on both sides of the Atlantic, and her antics while promoting the album have raised eye-brows everywhere. A tearful performance at the Youtube awards and a bizarre, R Kelly humping SNL hosting stint have provided more ammunition to those who believe the star is nothing more than a parody of her former self.
