Miley Cyrus closed the American Music Awards last night by performing her smash hit track 'Wrecking Ball', as a duet with a giant space cat. Yup, that's right. Watch it below if you don't believe us.
Rather than match the controversy caused by her twerking with Robin Thicke at the VMAs or her smoking a joint on stage at the EMAs, Cyrus took a rather surreal approach by simply performing with a giant singing cat miming the track from space on the screen behind her.
She was also wearing a pretty revealing halter top and underwear, embroidered with cartoon cats. She must really love cats.

Other live performances on the evening included Katy Perry opening the show with 'Unconditionally', Lady Gaga and R Kelly duetted on 'Do What U Want', One Direction performed a stripped-back track and Christina Aguilera joined A Great Big World for 'Say Something'.
