Are you happy that Status Quo have been added to the Download line-up? | |

Fans of Download festival have taken to the internet to give a mixed reaction to Status Quo joining the line-up as headliners of the second stage.
Last night, the 'Whatever You Want' and former ponytail-fashioning axe stalwarts joined the bill along with the likes of The Offspring, Steel Panther, Trivium and many more. They join headliners Linkin Park, Aerosmith and Avenged Sevenfold, along with previously announced acts Rob Zombie, Fall Out Boy and Alter Bridge.
Then, festival boss Andy Copping took to Twitter to confirm the band's placing on the line-up:

However, not all fans were pleased. Responding the announement on Facebook, Treza Haydn said: "Status Quo and Aerosmith? Where is Download being held this year? 1986?"
Adam Rachel, agreed: "Status Quo? I thought that was a joke for a minute until I realised it was the official download page."
Mike Widdrington added: "Sonisphere Knebworth could be the plan for next year then."
Luckily for the Quo, some fans spoke out in their defence. Adam Phillips asked: "Why the fuck aren't the Quo headlining?"
Kevin Bibby very righteously argued: "Just for the record, Quo headlined in 1982 , without bands like this the music we listen to today would not exist. Back in the day, when rocker was a way of life and not a fashion accessory, every headbanger on the planet had Quo patch on their cut-off denim jacket, so show some fucking respect."
Chris Sumby very succinctly said: "Quo are classic rock plain n simple. Proper Donington band."
Download Festival 2014 will take place at Donington Park from Friday 13 - Sunday 15 June. Tickets are on sale now. For more information visit Gigwise gig tickets.
