Lostprophets guitarist Lee Gaze thanked fans for their support following his former bandmate Ian Watkins pleading guilty in his child sex abuse trial.

Gaze thanked fans for their support as well as admitting he was relieved the hearing finished quickly, after Watkins pleaded guilty to 13 offences, including the attempted rape and sexual assault of a child. "That was over quick. Thank fuck," Gaze tweeted, before adding: "Thanks for the kind words. At least there is closure now."

Watkins, who was the lead singer of the Welsh band, most famous for their track 'Last Train Home', pleaded guilty to 13 sexual offences in court in Cardiff yesterday (26 November, 2013), including conspiring to rape a baby and possessing or making indecent images of children. Two female accomplices also admitted to numerous sexual offences.

Prior to the trial, the remaining members of Lostprophets had released a statement in October confirming their split, describing a year of "heartache."

"After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time," they wrote. "We can no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets. Your love and support over the past 15 years has been tremendous, and we'll be forever grateful for all you've given us. As we look forward to the next phase of our lives, we can only hope to be surrounded by people as devoted and inspiring as you guys have been."

At the time of Watkins' arrest in December 2012, the band also released a statement saying they were "in a state of shock."
